David Shields' more recent work has focused, but not exclusively, on more rarefied materials: English oak, walnut, various fruitwoods, glass, marble, slate and stone.

His work has also developed a strong architectural feel, which is not only a reflection of his urge to make his furniture sympathetic to its surroundings, but also relevant to the scale of some of the recent projects he has undertaken.

David enjoys working closely with clients, involving them in the creative process, talking through materials, influences and the attention to detail he puts into all his work. He is also an avid collector of antiques, which occasionally become the starting point for a new piece, the inspiration for the client, or the piece that ends up sitting harmoniously on top of the new commission.

David Shields is currently working with Antonia Robinson one half of the couture label Robinson Valentine, on a ready to use range of furniture, to include, tables, table lamps, kitchen accessories, bowls to mention but a few. David also intends to offer selected antiques, paintings and various works of art to sit along side these.
